What kind of school?
Calder House gives children the opportunity to succeed in an environment that is friendly and non-competitive.

"You are to be congratulated on a wonderful school and the excellent job being done on a daily basis."

“The methods you use certainly work, and are most certainly something Rosie will remember, and thank you for, all her life.”Former pupil’s parent |

Calder House has approximately fifty full-time places divided into six classes. The maximum academic class size is 8. The pupil/staff ratio is generally 4/1 but reduces to 1/1 as required. Calder House is staffed by fully qualified and experienced teachers, who are supported by classroom assistants and by our own specialist staff trained in the remedial support of dyslexic, dyspraxic, perceptual and language difficulties. Almost all specific learning difficulties can be assessed and addressed within the school programme, and the school is appropriate for most dyslexic, dyscalculic and dyspraxic children. The specialist support pupils require is incorporated into each pupil's timetable, and forms an integral part of the day's activities. |
