CHS and the SEND Code of Practice

The SEND Code of Practice came into effect on 1 September 2014. The Code refers to Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated regulations.

Calder House is fully aware of its responsibilities under the Code and actively supports its objectives. In particular we welcome the greater emphasis that the Code places on the participation of children and parents in decision making and the focus on setting ambitious aspirations and improving outcomes for children with special educational needs.

As well as meeting the needs of its pupils, Calder House is committed to supporting their parents and the wider network of professionals who may be involved in their care. With specific reference to children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), Calder House will actively seek to support the relevant Local Authority in fulfilling its role and responsibilities under the Code.
