Calder House has a purpose built computer suite with eight workstations so that every child in every teaching group has access to his/her own computer. Pupils can create their own personalised desktop environments and store work within individual user profiles. We also have a number of iPads and a networked colour printer and we follow the National Curriculum in full - including remote programming. Fiber-optic broadband access ensures reliable and speedy access to the internet.
Our computer suite is small enough for the teacher in charge to directly supervise each child’s activity online. Built-in filtering and security controls combined with a proactive policy towards e-Safety helps to ensure that pupils do not access unsuitable content. Pupils are supervised at all times when online and their identities are concealed in any emails they send.
We also have six interactive whiteboards located in classrooms throughout the school which enable teachers access to Internet during classroom activities and lessons.
