Why Calder House?

Starfish

A man was walking along the beach one day. Ahead he noticed another, older man picking up a starfish that had become stranded on the sand and throwing it back into the sea.

Why do you bother?” the man asked him. “The beach goes on for miles and countless starfish get stranded every day. You can’t really make a difference.

The old man looked at the starfish in his hand and then he threw it to safety among the waves. “I can make a difference to this one,” he replied.

Countless children feel stranded at school. For some Calder House can make a real difference.

It's Official! We're a "Good School"
Tuesday, 17 March 2009 00:00
Calder House has received a FANTASTIC write up in the Good Schools Guide following last month’s visit by a GSG inspector. The review, which can be viewed in full on the Guide’s website, praises Calder House’s “amazing success rate” in returning pupils to mainstream education and describes “a happy school where children can regain their self esteem”.

“I’m absolutely delighted with the inspector’s comments” beamed headmaster Andrew Day. “Calder House has been listed in the Good School’s Guide for many years but only the best schools are singled out for inspector’s reviews – and not many schools get reviews this good!”

Mr Day would also like to thank on behalf of the school the many parents of pupils and former pupils who recommended Calder House to the Good Schools Guide. “We want you all to know how much the school appreciates your support!”
