Why Calder House?
A man was walking along the beach one day. Ahead he noticed another, older man picking up a starfish that had become stranded on the sand and throwing it back into the sea.
“Why do you bother?” the man asked him. “The beach goes on for miles and countless starfish get stranded every day. You can’t really make a difference.”
The old man looked at the starfish in his hand and then he threw it to safety among the waves. “I can make a difference to this one,” he replied.
Countless children feel stranded at school. For some Calder House can make a real difference.

| Lacrosse tournament at Westonbirt |

Seven Calder House girls recently took part in a Pop Lacrosse coaching day and tournament at Westonbirt School. For most of the girls this was their first experience at Lacrosse, so there was great excitement at the thoughts of taking part in a tournament with twelve other prep schools. Our girls were allotted to teams with pupils from other schools, so new friends were made. During the coaching session, tactics for passing, catching, defending, attacking, and of course scoring goals, were learnt. The matches soon commenced, and it was not long before Taia became a top goal scorer, leading her team, along with Ffion, to the Champions Final. Both girls were victorious, winning the final 8-3. Connie and Christina also had a successful day winning their games in Division Two while Grace, Millie and Rose proved versatile in both attack and defence and were able to demonstrate some good throws. The girls enjoyed post match tea, and Taia exclaimed "I've finally found my sport!" Janet Kennedy
