Netball 2019

14 March, 2019

On Tuesday 5th March, Mrs Gilmore and Mrs Cooney took two teams of pupils to play netball against Marshfield's Year 5 and Year 6 teams. This was the first time our pupils had ever played together as a team and so we didn't know what to expect. Not only was the experience a bit of a novelty.... so was the way Marshfield played netball! Our hosts played a version of netball called High Fives whereas out team had been practising the traditional 7-a-side game. This put us at a bit of a disadvantage but our pupils soon adjusted and did extremely well demonstrating resilience and determination and proving that they could improvise and 'think on their feet'. We lost but we did manage to score some goals. More importantly it was a great experience and we would like to thank Marshfield for inviting us and making us so welcome.

On Monday 11th March, Prior Park U12s came to play a netball game against our U12s team. It was an exhilarating game, Mrs Cooney said she was really impressed with the skills displayed by our players - in particular Ted K's phenominal long range goal scoring. Supported by William B, Ted managed to shoot even with the sun shining directly into his eyes.  The opposition chose our Centre,  Inigo, as their Man of the Match  in recognition of his contribution to the game. The final score? 4-5 to Prior Park - it was such a close match and very much enjoyed by all!
