On Your Bike!

Adam decided to mark the end of the Summer Term by cycling into school... all the way from his home Tetbury.

That's a journey of more than 20 miles!

The marathon bike ride took almost three hours and meant that Adam had to set off from home at 5.30 a.m. in order to get to school on time.

"I'm a bit twitchy about cycling on main roads," explained Adam "So we planned a route that avoided most of the busy traffic and tried to stick to quieter lanes. But this added quite a few miles to the overall journey and took in some really steep hills! My mum's chain fell off on the worst hill and  she ended up pushing her bike up it but I was absolutely determined to cycle the whole thing and get to the end. I kept telling myself not to give up although, by the time I got to school, my legs felt like jelly. Really achy jelly!"

At the end of their marathon adventure, Adam and his mum were met by a cheering Mrs Delahay who was waiting to congratulate them at the entrance to school. "I'm really impressed that Adam set himself this challenge and managed to cycle all the way to school. What a brilliant way to mark the last day of term - well done Adam!"
